Get Your Mind Right

I watch daily the behavior of others as well as my own. It amazes me how some will doubt your intellectual ability, while you have already shown yourself to be capable of getting a job done. It has been in San Francisco that my mindset has shifted and increased significantly, because of the many I encounter with mental health issues.

Knowing that one must cultivate their inherent abilities, many will never reach their fullest potential because they are incapable of seeking knowledge and educating themselves. I guess it is easy to be like everyone else, while we were each created to be different. A great mind is a terrible thing to waste, while an average mind seems to make society function at low levels.

I find that many will attempt to use sex as a means to gain favor. If it is not going anywhere, what is the purpose? You can have sex and if it does not satisfy your intellect and add increase to your character, what purpose does it really serve? In all things you must seek to add increase to your inherent ability and increase your mindset to become better, stronger and wiser.

In any given thing make sure it helps you to GROW. If your not growing you are becoming complacent or stagnant in mediocrity. This is not what life is about. I see how as a young woman I was foolish and immature. These are the same things I would look for in choosing a  mate. If your mind is where mine was when I was 18, I would not seek to have you in my close personal company.

I realize there is a very different culture in California, but that does not mean I want to conform to said behaviors. I would rather take my intelligence elsewhere and start over than to waste my abilities on things of no significance. Choose love over hate and mental maturity over complacency. We were created to do Great things in life.

Choose to do something meaningful, rather than waste your time playing mind games of no significance. Get Your Mind Right!

Power of the Mind

The Power of the Mind

The mind is a Powerful tool which can be used to create. It can give you pain or pleasure. You must be mindful and aware of the people you are surrounded by. You have tendency, to take on the thoughts of those you are in the presence of. What I mean by this is, you are influenced by the intentions of others, if you are not constantly Focused on how you want your day to go and the things you want in your future.

I read many different things. I read my bible and inspirational books. I have found that the Law of Attraction has much truth, however you must carefully study the components, in order for it to be successful. You must also know exactly, what you want. It’s easy to become distracted by others, if you are attentive to their conversation.

I have started to carefully pay attention to my thoughts when I am alone and when I am in different environments. I observed my thoughts in many places and see clearly that one must observe the level of intelligence, character and intentions of others. I once found this to be strange, however I am a Pastor and did ask to receive, wisdom, knowledge and understanding. One must be careful of what they ask for. You just might get it.

I noticed when I am around artistic people, I flourish artistically. I am a very creative person and have a love for poetry. I am also aware, that when I am around those who have a love for politics, I seem to gravitate more towards being an outspoken mouthpiece for justice. Either way, you must learn to push out the senseless nothings of others and follow your own heart. I imagine many have experienced this same thing and perhaps have mastered this task.

There is a scripture, “As A Man Thinks so is he”, there are also numerous sayings and books on this very subject, that give light to the power of the mind. Many things we hear, we tend to think are untrue or foolish, however I have found that this way of thinking is only because of the things we were taught earlier in life. I have experienced many profound things, that could sound unbelievable, to the Average Mind.

It is during times of uncertainty and positive thoughts, that the laws of attraction seem to work best. It is by Faith that these Laws are made manifest. You have to believe in something unseen, to become that which you desire. I imagine no one wants to think they are less than they are, however you must believe with all your heart that you can achieve that which makes your heart melt.

I have found that during times of immense Joy, I have had many miraculous things to happen.
You definitely have to change the way you see life.

DoTerra and Its Many Uses

For Sunburn:
Tip 8: Mix 5 drops of Lavender & 1/4 cup of Coconut Oil
in a small spray bottle and use after a long day at the
beach on a bad sun burn.
The First Is Inhalation:
Diffusers
A common way to enjoy the benefits of essential oils is diffusion.
An ultrasonic atomization diffuser such as the LotusTM by
doTerra is great in releasing oils into the air. The LotusTM
acts as a humidifier, anion (negative ion) generator, and air
purifier. It implements nano-silver filtration, cold catalyst
filtration, active carbon filtration, electrostatic filtration, as
well as ultrasonic atomization to diffuse atomized essential oils
effectively into the air in the form of a micro-particles mist.
This is done silently and allows the human body to easily absorb
those minute ion particles.
Properly diffused oils are known to kill bacteria and virus,
improve mental clarity, enhance or calm emotions, and increase
feelings of well-being. The LotusTM diffuser can fill a room,
office, or lobby with therapeutic aromatics in only minutes. Over
longer periods of time, these diffused oils strengthen the immune
system, reduce mold, and reduce unpleasant orders.
Direct Inhalation
Many times it is not convenient to use the diffuser. Here are
suggestions on other handy techniques to enjoy the benefits of oils
aroma.
Inhaler: Empty inhalers, similar to a "Vicks inhaler"
may be purchased and any oil or blend can be dripped onto the wick.
They are very handy to carry in a pocket or purse and last for
weeks.
Cup and Inhale: With cup and inhale, place a couple drops of an
oil or blend or use the residue on the hands after a topical
application. Then stimulate the olfactory cells by cupping the
hands over the nose and breathing deeply.
Tissue cup: Find a small (appx. 8oz) cup with a lid. If plastic
it would preferably be high quality plastic. Place one or two
tissues or some toilet paper in the cup and drop 5-10 drops of oil
on the tissues. The cup can be opened occasionally and holding the
opening to the nose, breathe deeply. If the lid stays on, it will
be effective for up to 2 weeks. Use this for a stimulant when
driving or to stay alert in tedious meetings.
Make a spritz: using 5-10 drops of oil with 1/2 cup of clean
water. Put the mixture in a small spray bottle and shake well
prior to uses.
Make a steam tent: Add several drops of oil to a steaming hot bowl
of water. Place a towel over the head and let it drape around the
bowl and breathe in the vapors. This is especially valuable for
sinus problems, coughing or colds.
T Shirt Tent: Apply the desired oils to the chest and neck as
needed then put on a T shirt and while laying down pull the neck of
the shirt up over the nose and breath deeply.
When traveling by car or plane, the immune system is under
particular stress. Apply a few drops of oil to cotton balls,
cotton pads or tissue. In the car, place them in the heating and
cooling vents. The air passing over the oil diffuses the scent
into the air.
Stay tuned for additional uses. Check out my blog for other suggestions and ideas as well or goto the website: http://essentialoilsolution.com/go/la23563

Advocacy
Advocating on Policies
Wanting to change the world

Passion for what you do
Yes we can became real
Sometimes getting emotional
The cause I support with zeal
How can you ever know
You have not walked this way
Let leadership contain passion
Not only what you say
We each have a journey
I may not choose your path
Let responses be in kindness
Make no decisions in your wrath

The Person I Admire Most

Mary Hughes, my grandmother is a phenomenal woman. She has overcome adversities and her adversaries. Mary had given birth to nine children and was the victim of a gunshot wound near her heart. She survived and surpassed the expectations, others had set for her.  She has shown me by example; strength, intelligence and the courage to remain constant in her convictions.
Mary was born during an era of segregation. Her grandfather was a white man and her grandmother was Cherokee Indian. Although her family was prominent in the community and had financial status, she was viewed as a person of color. She had to drop out of middle school, at the age of fourteen to raise a child. Even as a victim of rape, her mother forced her to marry her attacker. The eldest of three children, Mary had to set a good example. She was married to Dennis and started her family. Even though she dropped out of school, she went on to take the G.E.D test and scored 100%. She later said there was a dispute with a white man about whom actually scored perfect on the test. It was said a young white female scored highest, but that was found to be untrue.
Although she never went to a university, Mary went to culinary school.  Having a love and passion for cooking; she worked for over thirty years at Vanderbilt University’s cafeteria. She said “They absolutely loved my pies”. She had a way with people and knew how to use her southern charm to put a smile on anyone’s face. It was hard to work full-time and care for eight children, one died. Somehow it was a challenge she surpassed. She even found the time to assist her eldest child with her studies, working towards becoming a paralegal. The trials Mary had faced in her early life, gave her insight to share with her daughter in her legal studies. She watched her daughter graduate and assisted her in finding employment; with civil rights attorney Avon Williams.
My grandfather was a very jealous man. He would regularly check with the children to see if Mary came home on time. She said “living life with him, was as if living as a prisoner in her own home”. There was never any time for her to just relax, without providing for her husband or family. One day she decided to get away after work. Hanging out with some female friends and going to the salon; was not something she did on a regular basis. The time away, was like a breath of fresh air. When she was on her way home from the salon, walking less than a block from her house; her life flashed before her very eyes. She was shot at point blank range, in the chest. To her surprise when she opened her eyes after falling to the ground; it was her husband Dennis that shot her. She said she remembered him saying in a gruesome voice, “I guess you just leaving your boyfriend’s house”, then she lost consciousness.
Several days later, she has awakened in the hospital surrounded by her husband and children. She said “it was an overwhelming feeling, to awake from what I thought was the end of my life, to realize my husband had once again hurt me.” The doctor said the bullet was less than an inch from her heart, and she was lucky to be alive. A few more days had passed, and she was greeted by the police. There was a frightening appearance, on the face of the officer. Having a deep baritone voice, he asked “Did you see who shot you?” Without any hesitation and her heart beating as fast as a locomotive, she responded, “My Husband.” At that moment she knew her life was about to change, yet again. A week later she was released to home, her husband in jail and Marys’ mother had to help provide for her grandchildren. It was three years before my grandfather was released from prison.
My grandfather came home after his release. Mary welcomed him with open arms. Even though he was abusive and had mistreated her for many years; her convictions remained constant. The family was back together, nevertheless it was still not perfect. Daily there were arguments and fighting. She had to find solace in prayer, to escape his abuse. Bessie (Marys’ mom) developed a hatred for my grandfather over the years. She told her daughter, “I wish I had never made you marry that devilishly evil man.” Mary said “it was the hand I was dealt.” She refused to give up on her family.

Mary remained married to Dennis for 43 years, before he died. She has always said “I am at peace now.” There have been many nights she had nightmares, about the things her husband subjected her to. Yet she still has shown resilience and never regretful of her choice to keep her family together. To this very day, she remains a woman of faith and has always inspired many people. In her younger years she had suffered numerous nervous breakdowns, but has always been faithful. Every time I see her she smiles. I ask her, “Do you smile because you are happy?” She always replies, “From where I was to where I am, there is no greater joy than the afflictions that I have overcome. It is joy that makes me smile and my faith is always in my father, Amen.” I admire my grandmother not only for her strength’s; but all the things she has overcome. I will gladly tell the world, I am her biggest admirer.
The resilience she has always shown me, makes me desire to be a better woman.

Poetry that brings dreams to life….

Written and Owned by LaTrice Hughes

1.    Divine Influence

Divine Influence has changed My Life
I run from confusion and seek no strife
A Bride To Christ devoted to God
Let the word increase as no facade
Faith in him who has saved my life
Increase in the word
For it gives us life
I searched the world over
For there is no other
The Love of God
Has been my cover
I run no more
It did no good
For all I was seeking
I yet understood
In all your getting
Be sure understanding is number one.

2.    Pride, Purpose and Nature

The story reveals pride, purpose and nature
Be who you are there will always be haters
Not all will like you
Don't always go with what you feel
Let the heart see it through
The truth is always revealed

The significance of a thought is preciously profound
In a split seconds one can create the world all around
Let the seconds count and be well spent
Erroneous ideas can bring forth discontent
Universal laws revealed it goes unheard
Think positive thoughts  and caution with words

Why you walking around with your head down?
Better hold that head up
What's that all about?
Be prideful in your duties
Not what you've been given
It's not all about you
What kind of life are you living?

3.    The World Is Mine

You cant stop me from accomplishing my dreams
Im bold driven and determined
Are things as they seem?
You watch from afar
What are you trying to gain?
I went from being righteous
Now loved by the world
I have obtained great things

4. Talents

You have given me gifts
They all come from you
Glorifying your name
Credit worthy and true
Not that of myself
Spirit given and graced
Within your temple
Not to be disgraced
I walk in the spirit
Not my natural self
I pray each day
Father I need your help
If not for you
walking through each storm
Losing the natural mind
While yet being reborn
The things of you
Foolishness unto man
Appointed by God
As Jesus keeps holding my hand

5. Fighting For My Life

I woke up one morning
It all seemed like a dream
Advocating for others
Walking the unseen
Treating as I want to be treated
Righteous in my deeds
God has a plan for me
To do mighty things

Fighting for my life
The devil took away
Forcing things upon me
I have no desire for today
I am a righteous woman
Perfect in every way
Predestined for greatness
It happens on this day

It gets heavy to walk in Love
When evil comes your way
The burden gets so heavy
I Can make it through today
Respect me for my convictions
It is my life to live
I long to be with my father
I have nothing left to give

I'll chose my own path
That fills my heart with tears
I slip and slide and try to hide
The devil followed me here
My one and only desire
Is to fill the world with love
When home with my father
Will then I find True Love.

6. Walking In Truth

While I walk in truth
Not Without Pain
Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding
All I Have Gained

Fear of No Man
All His Divine Plan
A Soldier For Christ
We Walk Hand In Hand

Overcome With Joy
When I Remember My Trials
I Did Overcome
I Have Walked Many Miles

Judge Not What You Don't Understand
Not All Have an Even Hand
For I Know True What's Unseen
Everything I Desire Is Real No Longer A Dream

7. Perfection

I've Walked Through Fire
Yet Still I Stand
The Love of Christ
Always My Friend
No One Else Close
He Was Loyal and True
When All Else Failed
He Got Me Through
I Called On Friends
They All Had Left
Nothing To Give
Everyone For Self
When I Lost All Hope
He Was Always There
To Strengthen My Faith
It Was All I Could Bare
Fills My Heart With Tears
Because Still I Stand
I Have Walked With God
Jesus Held My Hand
When All Else Fails
Get On Your Knees
Everyone Else Can Be Gone
God Fulfills All Your Needs

8. Grandmother’s Love

Mary trained me up as a child
Equipping me for life all the while
Feeding me scriptures everyday
Helping me choose the narrow way
I look above and know she is there
Always to give her loving care
To see me become what she always knew
I possessed within Holy Spirit true
She walked in spirit
Not her natural self
Foolishness to man
For she had no help
To understand I don't know if she knew
To loose the natural mind
Jesus Christ all the way through
I see her smile
Fills my heart with joy
She's my very best friend
Will she be forever more

9. Understanding

I walk with God
His divine plan
Not of Myself
All by his hands
Journey's been hard
Couldn't do it by myself
I lost everything
I have nothing left
Although I lost many things
That which I did gain
By God's Grace
I retained my faith
I'm now where he needs
Therefore be content
For the best is yet to come
Yall ain't seen nothing yet
Faith the size of a mustard seed
Can change your entire world
Don't give up on your dreams
The best is yet to come

10. Dreams Come True

Dreams Do Come True
I Experienced it for myself
Although yet to obtain
The worlds definition of wealth
To thine own self, one must be true
No one walks through this life
The pain experienced by you
Overcoming through the fight
Once awakened in light
It suddenly becomes a fight
Live each day
Eyes opened for the flight….
